Building a wash routine that actually works

Building a wash routine that actually works

Great hair between appointments starts with a consistent wash routine tailored to your hair type and lifestyle. Most people over-wash — stripping natural oils that protect color and shine.

For color-treated hair we recommend washing no more than 2–3 times per week using a sulfate-free shampoo. Follow with a hydrating conditioner from mid-lengths to ends, leaving it on for at least 60 seconds before rinsing.

Once a week, swap your conditioner for a deep treatment mask. Apply it after shampooing, comb it through, and leave it under a shower cap for 10–15 minutes. This single habit makes a significant difference in how your color holds between visits.

When it comes to water temperature — always finish with a cool rinse. Hot water opens the cuticle and allows color molecules to escape. A cool rinse seals the cuticle, adding shine and locking in moisture.

Finally, resist the urge to towel-dry aggressively. Pat gently or use a microfibre towel to reduce breakage. Air dry when possible, or apply a heat protectant before blow-drying on a medium setting.
